How to see how many YouTube videos you’ve watched
YouTube never shows how many videos you’ve watched. There’s a companion tool for YouTube, TubeWrapped, that counts the videos you actually watch and shows your total per day, week, month and over the year. To use it, install the extension for free on a desktop browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera).
Why is it so hard to know?
Your YouTube history lists the videos you opened, but without a counter: you’d have to count them one by one. And a video opened for a few seconds and closed shows up like all the others.
Exporting your data (Google Takeout) also gives you a long list, with no total or sorting. To get a real number, you need a tool that counts as you go.
What TubeWrapped counts for you
TubeWrapped only counts the videos you actually watched. You get:
- Videos watchedThe total number of videos watched over the chosen period.
- Daily averageHow many videos you watch on a typical day.
- ShortsThe number of Shorts watched, counted separately from your videos.
- Videos finishedThe number of videos you watch all the way through.
- FormatsThe split between short, medium and long videos.
- Videos per creatorHow many videos you watched from each of your channels.
Every number is compared with the previous period: you instantly know whether you watched more or fewer videos than usual.
From videos to Shorts
Shorts are counted separately so they don’t inflate your video total. You can show or hide them to see what you really watch.
Share and compare your Wrapped with friends
TubeWrapped is also a small social network around YouTube: pick a username, add your friends and see what they watch.
- Add friends by searching for their username.
- Compare your stats: watch time, videos watched, favorite creators.
- Share your Wrapped as a single image on social media.
- Public or private account: you decide who sees your stats.
How to see how many videos you’ve watched with TubeWrapped
TubeWrapped is a browser extension. Once installed, it uses what you watch on YouTube to calculate how many videos you’ve watched, among other things. There’s nothing to export or set up: three steps are enough.
What happens next?
Nothing else to do. Keep watching YouTube as usual and your stats update on their own: the extension syncs automatically every two hours. Switch between the Year and Month views to follow how your habits change.
